The brief was the Saraswati-chowki as a clear yantra rather than a packed one: a central medallion with the veena and swan, set inside a single square yantra with swastikas at its corners and a lotus on each side, ringed once by a lotus mandala. We held the fill near half so the geru ground reads inside the square and between the rings, the way a learning-day seat looks drawn fresh on a clean floor. In Kumaon the Saraswati-chowki is drawn on Basant Panchami to seat the goddess of learning — children place their first slates and pens on it — so the veena (her instrument) and the swan (her mount) are the whole iconography, and the chowki is literally a seat. The square yantra and corner swastikas are the rite's geometry, not decoration. White biswar on geru, no third colour.
