The idea was to draw the weekly bhajan mandali the way it actually feels from inside — a circle that opens like a flower — so we placed the singers as the petals of a radial lotus-mandala with the harmonium at the hub. Shrinathji stays small and high in his own shrine because in a bhajan the deity is the audience, not the spectacle; the singers face inward and the eye circles with the song. The deep maroon ground does the work of dusk, that lamp-lit hour when the colony gathers, and we kept the supporting cast to two peacocks and a lotus tank below so the mandala can breathe. It is the secular, social side of Pushtimarg devotion — the kirtan that surrounds the Nathdwara haveli's formal darshan.
