The brief was horizontal-band symmetry for Mumbai suburban local — not sun-moon arch, not river-flow umbrella monsoon, and no tarpa spiral because the subject is daily commute lifeline not harvest dance. Mumbai local fusion is a translation problem: how does a multi-carriage EMU with open doors, roof pantographs, and triangle-window commuters read inside Warli monochrome while telling the Konkan-to-coastal-city story? Horizontal-band stacks three registers: upper rural hinterland with briefcase walker heading toward city, centre oversized train hero on dot-pattern tracks, lower fishing water band with sailboat rowboat and net-caster — village continuity beneath urban infrastructure. What we refused: WR logos, perspective carriages, multicolor train stripes, concentric dance rings.
