The brief was a translation problem: how does a Mumbai coastal walk — selfie arms, e-scooters, leashed dogs, glass towers — read inside Warli white-line grammar without collapsing into the tourist poster soup of sun, moon, spiral dance, and hut cluster all at once? Horizontal-band symmetry was the layout fix. The promenade becomes a single narrative fence line across the portrait frame; figures move left and right like a harvest procession, except the harvest is weekend foot traffic. What we refused: tarpa spiral (this is not a dance subject), chauk-central sacred square (no wedding ritual here), perspective vanishing points, and any multicolor fill that would turn ochre mud wall into Madhubani. What we kept legible: triangle bodies, circle heads, rectangle phone and skyline towers, palm verticals as dot-accent trees, and the sea as simple wave hatch — enough Konkan coastline that a Bandra flat owner recognises the scene before reading the caption.
