A whole harvest stacked into a single offering — the Govardhan mountain rebuilt out of food.

The brief here was the classic Annakut: Shrinathji at the apex and the famous mountain rebuilt not from rock but from bowls, so the eye climbs the pyramid the way the offering itself climbs toward the deity. We chose a warm cream ground rather than a dark one because Annakut is a daylight harvest festival, and the cream lets the ochre-and-rose food tiers read like real bhog. Four cows hold the base — the heart of Pushtimarg vatsalya and go-seva — with a single white cow placed near the deity rather than a crowded herd. Annakut recalls the day the child-Krishna lifted Mount Govardhan and taught the cowherds to honour the hill that fed their cattle; the food-mountain is that hill, returned as a feast.

  • Hang on a cream, sage or warm-white wall so the ochre food tiers read true
  • Pairs with annakut-community-bhandara or govardhan-lift-lila for a Govardhan wall
  • Natural-oak frame suits the cream ground; black frame sharpens the contour line
  • Sits well in a puja or dining nook where a calm daylight festival image is wanted
