A competition version (365 GTB/4 Competizione) won its class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1971, 1972, and 1973. The Ferrari Enzo was named after the company's founder, Enzo Ferrari, who died in 1988. Production was limited to 399 examples plus one additional unit donated to charity for Pope John Paul II, which was later auctioned for $1 million for tsunami relief.
