Cheriyal scrolls come from Cheriyal village in Telangana's Siddipet district, painted for generations by the Nakashi artist community in flat colour on a red ground; the stacked-register strip is the form's traditional way of telling an ordered sequence. The pelli bhojanam — the Telugu wedding feast — is served to seated rows of guests, traditionally on banana or stitched leaf-plates, with rice and dishes ladled round from large pots and music played alongside; the decorated cow marks an auspicious household.
