We briefed this as a two-register feast strip because a pelli bhojanam is a sequence — guests seated, food carried round, music underneath — and the stacked-strip is the old Cheriyal way of telling exactly that kind of ordered scene. The top two bands give rows of seated guests at their leaf-plates with servers ladling from the big brown pots, so the eye reads the act of serving as the heart of the picture. The lower band carries the music and a decorated cow, grounding the feast in a real village courtyard. Keeping the rice mounds bright white and the leaf-plates leaf-green against the vermilion is the whole appetite of the piece, done the Nakashi way with flat colour and no shading. Medium fill keeps each row distinct so the hospitality reads as generosity, not a crush.
