S. VFA-41 was established on 1 September 1950 and earned the Black Aces nickname through decades of Atlantic and Pacific carrier deployments in Banshees, Demons, Phantoms, and Tomcats before becoming the first operational F/A-18F Super Hornet squadron in December 2001. Based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California, the Black Aces fly as part of Carrier Air Wing 9 with the radio callsign Dealer and a combat record spanning Vietnam, the Gulf War, and modern Middle East operations.
