Cheriyal scrolls come from Cheriyal village in Telangana's Siddipet district, painted for generations by the Nakashi artist community for travelling balladeers who sang the Ramayana and Mahabharata episode by episode to village audiences. The Pattabhisheka — Rama's coronation on returning to Ayodhya after exile and the war with Ravana — is the epic's resolving scene and a beloved auspicious image across South India, traditionally shown with Sita enthroned, the brothers and attendants flanking, and Hanuman at the feet.
