The brief was vatsalya, parental tenderness, made the entire subject: one white cow nuzzling her calf, framed by a lotus arch, with nothing competing for the centre. We kept it deliberately gentle — the calf pressed in against its mother, gold bell-strings and saddle-cloths marking them as cherished, a flowering tree of hanging bells above — and let the deep maroon ground hold the white pair like a soft glow. The cow-and-calf bond embodies Pushtimarg vatsalya-bhakti, the tender, parental love at the centre of the devotion at Nathdwara, where the cow is not background but the heart of the faith. Peacocks and a lotus pond keep the Braj meadow around them. Faux-gold on the bells is flat vivid yellow, never metallic.
