DESIGN BRIEF: the brief was the toddy palm as the hub of a village day, so we used tree-of-life-centre symmetry and put a tall fan-crowned palm on the vertical axis with a tapper mid-climb and collecting pots hung in the fronds. That single vertical anchor lets the daily-life registers settle around it — a plough team, pot-carrying women, a dance row, seated drummers, a hut — without the panel feeling like a list. We held the fill medium-light so the deep-maroon ground shows between bands and the climbing tapper reads as the clear event. We refused faces, refused colour, refused perspective depth and any modern tool; the customary sun, moon, horses, elephant and peacocks ring the scene the way real Lanjia Saura village panels carry them in the Rayagada hills, the everyday and the auspicious sharing one wall.
