The brief was Nandotsav as pure joy held inside a steady frame: a small dancing Krishna at the centre, the matki of butter hanging above, gopas reaching for it and gopis showering butter, but everything ringed by a calm festival border so it celebrates without dissolving into chaos. We kept the dancers bold and clearly spaced rather than a crowded tangle, with cows at the base and peacocks in the margins anchoring the Braj setting. Nandotsav is the day after Krishna's birth, when Nanda's home in Braj overflows with butter and music — the festival of abundance and delight. The butter pots and festoon glow flat vivid yellow; no shading, no metallic sheen. The warm cream ground keeps the festivity light.

  • Natural-oak frame on cream or warm walls keeps the marigold festoon and butter-yellow pots glowing
  • Hang above a shrine shelf or in a living room where the festive scene reads year-round
  • Pairs with makhan-mishri-kitchen and janmashtami-jhanki-classic for a Krishna-birth grouping
  • Avoid a busy patterned wall — the festival border is already the frame
  • Set beside holi-phag-festival for a festival-calendar wall
