Rank 41 centres the Macchi C.202 Folgore — the lightning bolt that married Italian airframe craft to the Daimler-Benz DB 601A engine and gave Regia Aeronautica fighter squadrons their first genuinely competitive monoplane over the Western Desert. Entering service in 1941 with 1° Stormo and units in Sicily and North Africa, the C.202 combined graceful lines with agility that surprised RAF Hurricane and P-40 pilots accustomed to outturning earlier Italian fighters. The desert mottled camouflage and 795 serial on the plate reflect North African theatre markings; the prancing-horse emblem nods to ace Francesco Baracca's squadron heritage carried forward on Macchi flanks. More than 1,100 C.202s were built before the C.205 Veltro succeeded it; split-view blueprint art renders the desert exterior and inline-engine wireframe exactly as the master PNG dictates.
