The brief was to get kalaripayattu — Kerala's old, aerial martial art — into mural line, which fights the medium because the art is all speed and the idiom wants stillness. The answer was to freeze two opposing diagonals: one fighter leaping high with sword and round shield, the other lunging up from below to meet him, so the duel reads as composed tension rather than a blur. A single white sword arc carries the velocity without cartoon motion lines. We kept the fighters honest in ochre-gold skin and waist-cloths rather than the deity-green, anchored the scene with a kalari shrine and its lit lamps on one side and a seated drummer on the other, and held the density medium-light against the deep temple-red ground so the clash stays the focus.
