Kabaddi — the village match mid-raid · contemporary × Pithora fusion print · Rathwa-Bhil folk art of Chhota Udepur, Gujarat

Kabaddi is all bodies and grip — no ball, no bat — so Pithora draws it the way it draws its horses, through pose, and the raid reads in a single glance.

The translation problem was a sport with no equipment to lean on: kabaddi is pure body — a raider lunging in, defenders chaining hands to stop him — so the picture had to carry the action through pose alone, which is exactly how Pithora carries everything. A scatter-village layout set the match across the middle, two teams locked over a dotted court line, a referee in white between them, the lunge and the grip drawn so the raid reads instantly. A crowd of drummers cheers from behind, giving the match the festive village energy it has on the ground. The tractor, bus and cricket in the lower band keep it the kind of ordinary big day the whole village turns out for, all in the same outline so nothing reads as a gag.

  • Natural-oak frame on cream or warm-white walls keeps the locked teams and crowd readable
  • Hang in a child's room or games room where village sport brings energy
  • Pair with school-cricket-match or village-mela-wheel for a Pithora village-life wall
  • Sits well in a family room beside other lively, everyday-life pieces
  • Slim black frame echoes the black outlines in a room with dark wood
