The brief was to render Mahishasuramardini, Durga slaying the buffalo demon, so the victory reads instantly and the ten arms stay legible rather than tangled. So we centred Durga on her golden lion with her hingula-red halo of rays behind her, fanned the ten weapon-bearing hands in a clean arc, and placed the trident driving down into the blue buffalo-demon at lower right so the diagonal of the strike carries the eye. We kept a single attendant with a bow at the upper right for balance and refused the dense crowd of secondary figures these scenes often collect, leaving the cream ground open so the goddess and her lion own the field. It is the central Devi subject, drawn for a clear, decisive read in the Odisha line.

  • Natural-oak frame on cream or warm-white walls keeps the hingula sari and haritala lion reading bold against the patta ground
  • Hang at eye level in a puja nook or entryway where the goddess reads as a protective presence
  • Pairs with kali-symbolic, sapta-matrika-register or saraswati-veena for a Devi / Shakti grouping
  • Black frame echoes the lamp-black outline in rooms with dark wood
  • A natural choice for Durga Puja and Navaratri home shrines
