The brief was to paint Yoga-nidra as a calm horizontal, not a busy mythological diagram: one long reclining figure that the eye follows end to end before it notices everything else is born from him. We let blue Vishnu stretch right across the central band on Ananta's white coils, kept Lakshmi small and devoted at his feet, and ran the lotus stem straight up from his navel to seat Brahma — so the act of creation reads as a single vertical lifted out of a horizontal sleep. We refused the packed multi-register treatment these cosmologies usually get; instead the indigo ocean stays a clean band at the bottom with just a few fish, and the cream ground is left open so the serpent canopy and the navel-lotus carry the meaning. It is Vaishnava cosmology rendered the Odisha way — flat, profile, mineral, legible from across the room.

  • Natural-oak frame on cream or warm-white walls keeps the indigo Vishnu and hingula lotus reading true against the patta ground
  • Hang at eye level above a console or puja shelf where the horizontal reclining figure has room to stretch
  • Pairs with vishnu-lakshmi-court or dasavatara-grid from the same Pattachitra collection for a Vishnu-cosmology grouping
  • Black frame echoes the lamp-black outline when the room already has dark wood
  • Keep beside calm neutral textiles so the indigo ocean band stays the coolest note in the room
