The brief was deep-daan, the Kartik custom of floating lit lamps on a river at night, translated into pichwai without losing its hush. We set the scene on a deep blue river under a deep maroon night sky, with a flat folk temple-town and a thin crescent moon behind, and put one family at the ghat — kneeling, releasing diyas — rather than a thronging crowd. The lamp flames stay as flat-yellow points scattered across the water among lotuses and pads, so the river reads as a field of light while obeying the flat-cloth rule. A single cow stands with the family, keeping the Pushtimarg link. It is one of the quieter, more contemplative festivals, and the night ground lets it glow.
