The brief was a vertical cosmos: let one tree of life carry the three zones so the eye climbs from earthly life through the riders to the deities at the top. A central tree axis solved the layout cleanly — the branching green canopy fills the upper-middle, a flower medallion roots it at the foot, and the worlds stack along its trunk rather than fighting for horizontal room. Among the Rathwa the tree is a living link between the household and the gods, and the painted wall reads as a cosmology, so giving the tree the spine of the picture is true to how the iconography thinks. Flanking shrines and mounted riders keep the middle band populated without crowding the trunk; the well, bullock and dancers below root the cosmos in daily life, exactly where it belongs.
