The Baraat — the wedding procession with brass band · contemporary × Pithora fusion print · Rathwa-Bhil folk art of Chhota Udepur, Gujarat

A baraat is just a procession that forgot to walk in a straight line — so Pithora, which already runs on processions, takes the groom's white horse and gives the brass band a folk outline to march in.

The translation problem here was almost a gift: a wedding baraat is already a procession, and procession-flow is Pithora's native rhythm, so the groom simply takes the place a deity rider would hold — up on a white horse, under a striped umbrella, at the centre of the line. The brass band was the real test; a tuba and trumpets are modern, so they were drawn in the same confident outline and flat colour as everything else, the players reading as folk figures who happen to carry shining instruments rather than as a snapshot. Among the Rathwa a wedding is a community-wide event, and the divine wedding of Pithoro sits at the heart of the tradition, so a human baraat belongs naturally on the wall. The tractor-cart and bus stayed because that is how the village actually travels to a wedding now, slotted into the lower band without breaking the grammar.

  • Natural-oak frame on cream or warm-white walls keeps the groom's white horse luminous
  • Hang where the eye can follow the band left-to-right toward the groom under the umbrella
  • Pair with baraat-musicians or wedding-pavilion-mandap for a Pithora wedding wall
  • Sits well in a family room or wedding-gift wall where the procession energy belongs
  • Slim black frame echoes the black outlines in a room with dark wood
