Cheriyal scrolls come from Cheriyal village in Telangana's Siddipet district, painted for generations by the Nakashi artist community on a signature red ground. The scrolls were commissioned by specific caste and community patrons — among them the Goud (toddy-tapper) community — and unrolled by their own balladeer-storytellers to recite the genealogy and origin legend of that caste.
