The brief was the freshest hour of any Rajasthani town — the morning sabzi mandi — composed as a market frieze the way Amber–Jaipur painters arranged figures along a bazaar ground, with the haveli wall and hill fort closing the back. It works because the grammar fits: a row of figures across the foreground, a saturated architectural backdrop, room for colour to do the talking. We let the baskets of produce be the bright heart — tomatoes, brinjals, greens, gourds — and kept the cast small: a vendor handing over greens, two or three shoppers bargaining with their bags, a cart-man wheeling in oranges. The vegetables and the shopping bags are the modern notes, drawn flat and folk-stylised so the market reads as a courtly bazaar first, the pink haveli and the fort giving it the town.
