The brief was a single rainy-street tableau, not a panorama: Cheriyal scrolls always gave one scene its own breathing room, so we kept the cast small and let the vermilion ground carry the weather. Rain is the hardest thing to do without shading, so we did it the Nakashi way — fine lamp-black diagonal hatching laid right over the red, a single indigo puddle band with white splash lines, and that's the whole monsoon. The umbrellas do the colour work: indigo, leaf-green and chrome-yellow domes spaced across the panel so the eye walks the street. We kept the splashing child and the tarp-pulling vendor as the two human beats — one delight, one small panic — because that contrast is what a wet morning actually feels like, and the lotus-eyed profiles keep it folk rather than comic.
