Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Poster — 1955 24 Hours of Le Mans Endurance Racing Wall Art · framed A2

Silver number seven-twenty-two and a Mille Miglia legend parked on cream — the 300 SLR earns vertical serif typography because 1955 was the year Mercedes proved speed and tragedy share the same calendar at La Sarthe.

Rank 20 documents the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR — the silver open-cockpit sports prototype that dominated 1955 endurance racing before the Le Mans disaster ended Mercedes' season and reshaped motorsport safety forever. Chassis bearing number 722 is forever tied to Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson's Mille Miglia record — the most famous road-race victory in history — yet the 300 SLR also entered Le Mans 1955 as the machine to beat until Pierre Levegh's catastrophic crash into the grandstands halted the race's innocence. Rudolf Uhlenhaut's engineering delivered a tubular space-frame, fuel-injected straight-eight, and magnesium bodywork light enough to win at Silverstone and the Targa Florio. The SLR was beautiful, fast, and ultimately withdrawn mid-season out of respect and corporate horror. Wallimilist renders the silver three-quarter hero, red 722 numerals, Union Jack fairing flag, and vertical MERCEDES 300 title exactly as the master PNG dictates — 1955 kicker, teal SARTHE LEGEND badge, and curator copy on silver-arrow endurance heritage.

  • Black frame on warm white walls — silver body and red 722 numerals stay vivid without overpowering neutral upholstery
  • Pair with Delahaye 135 Competition or Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa at matching A2 for 1950s endurance heritage wall
  • Hang at credenza height where Union Jack fairing and wire-spoke wheels reward close reading
  • Natural-oak frame suits study walls where cream parchment echoes wood beside vintage grand prix photography
  • Stack A3 beside Talbot-Lago T26 for immediate post-war French endurance contrast
  • Charcoal or warm grey walls complement silver arrow bodywork without competing accents
