We briefed this as the core Khovar wedding-chamber composition: the lotus-and-paired-fish medallion that women comb onto the bridal room wall as a blessing of fertility and plenty. Central-medallion symmetry was non-negotiable — the fish and lotus belong dead-centre inside their petal ring — so the surrounding pairs settle in around it like guests at the wedding: caparisoned bulls above, deer at the sides, dressed horses below, peacocks in the corners. Combing the medallion and the animal saddle-cloths in fine rows lets the dark base read as pattern and shadow without any colour, the whole grammar of Khovar. We kept the pairs few and the ground open so the central blessing stays the thing you read first.
