The translation problem was making modern care feel devotional without clinical clutter: the aanganwadi health worker is given the central, sheltering place a goddess holds, standing beneath a cusped lotus-topped arch weighing a swaddled infant on a hanging balance-scale, mothers with babies gathered close. That hanging scale becomes the composition's quiet axis, the act of weighing one small life held at the heart of the cloth. The Vaghri (Devipujak) community of Gujarat, long kept from temple sanctums, painted the Mother onto cloth to carry their shrine with them; here the worker who weighs and vaccinates the village infants stands in for that same protective Mother. Brick-red, iron-rust black, undyed cream: nothing else, because the limited natural-dye triad is the entire discipline.
