Rank 29 in the Aviation Heroes collection, this print honours Poland's F-16C Block 52+ fleet — the Jastrząb, named for the northern goshawk — that replaced Cold War-era MiG-21s and Su-22s after a 2002 contract for forty-eight Fighting Falcons. The first pair touched down at Poznań-Krzesiny on 9 November 2006, and the 31st Tactical Air Base (31 BLT) became the anchor of PolAF tactical aviation: two squadrons sharing thirty-two Vipers at Krzesiny while sixteen more operate from Łask. From January 2010 the fleet stood NATO quick-reaction alert alongside Baltic air-policing rotations — a single-engine fighter that punches above its weight class in European integrated air defence.
