The Eurocopter EC665 Tiger — Tigre in French service — entered operational use with French Army Aviation in the mid-2000s as a Franco-German attack helicopter built by what is now Airbus Helicopters. The HAP variant (Hélicoptère d'Appui Protection) equips ALAT with a Safran Strix roof-mounted sight, 30 mm GIAT chain gun, 68 mm SNEB rockets, and Mistral air-to-air missiles for escort and fire-support missions; French HAP aircraft deployed to Afghanistan from 2009, supported operations off the assault ship Tonnerre during Libya in 2011, and flew combat missions over Mali from 2013. The Hawker Hunter entered RAF service in 1954 and quickly became synonymous with British jet elegance — the Black Arrows' twenty-two-ship loop at the 1958 Farnborough Airshow remains one of aviation's most photographed formations. Hunters served in India during the 1971 war, with Switzerland until 1994, and with the RAF as a ground-attack trainer into the 1990s.
